World Series Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51 million watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings after the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 different tongues.
