Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
