Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the appeals.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
